The van der Waals – London Discussions

3rd Edition

It is with great pleasure that we announce the third edition of the van der Waals, to be held in Perugia (PG), Italy, from October 12th to October 14th 2026.

The vdW/L Discussions are conceived as a forum for scientists committed to the development of new theoretical, fundamental, methodological, instrumental and metrologic ways to characterize and study noncovalent interactions. As such it is an interdisciplinary forum that gives spaces for thorough discussions and debates around recent results, issues and emerging concepts.

The workshop will cover a broad range of topics related to van der Waals and long-range interactions. Particular attention will be devoted to ab initio and experimental techniques used to investigate these phenomena in complex systems, as well as to the role of vdW/L interactions in molecules, materials and in (bio)molecular systems. The program will also explore recent advances in the description of long-range interactions through wavefunction-based methods and machine learning approaches, together with the development and use of datasets specifically designed to model and benchmark these interactions.

We look forward to seeing you in Perugia!
